Ananse mix for Destination Africa

I made this mix for DJ Edu's Destination Africa on BBC 1xtra in 2008. It has some exclusives from the vaults, yet to be released, as well as old goodies.

MODENINE - look Chale

Mode9 was in Accra in 2006 and grabbed some beats, blessed them in Lagos and now for your listening pleasure. Mode is one of the baddest anglo hip hop heads in lagos. I am working on him for some Pidgen madness.

King Ayisoba - Look My shoe

A King Ayisoba classic with an amazing guestlist and bad ass video. Production by Panji, Ananse and Opoku the keys man.

Wanlov the Kubolor: Smallest Time and My Skin

Some more Wanlov the Kubolor collaborations all from the Green Card album. Smallest time was probably completed in the latter days of the Green Card production sessions. My Skin was in the earlier days when my obsession with Malian strings was in full force.

Wanlov the Kubolor: Never Die Video

One of the 1st collaborations between myself and Wanlov the Kubolor circa 2004. Kubolor put together a nice indy video back in his L.A. days. Never Die was one of my first using an African breakbeat and it has been history since.

FOKN BOIZ: Kubolor and M3nsa freestyling with Ananse

Sometime in 2009 Kubolor and M3nsa passed through the old Vibe fm studio @ Pyramid House. Big ups to Globalfusionnyc.

Access Zinabu (spiritual call out to Haiti)

This was supposed to be the 1st release off the "Trillion Stories EP", a 2009 project that got scrapped. The album has been rebranded into "LIBATION", coming soon in 2010.

Access Zinabu features Bondzie Keys, aka M3nsa (Adjuma fame) playing keyboard on Kweku Ananse production, a throwback to Bunzu Soundz on Faisal Helwani's Obibinii label. It is a delightful track, with a funky libational (spiritual call out) video to Maya Deren's "Divine Horsemen: The Living Gods of Haiti", a catalogue of Haitian Voodoo rituals in the late 40s and early 50s.

This is dedicated to the people of Haiti.
